  • Two greatest conflict are not between two people but between one person and himself.

    Garth Brookes

It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them.

God bless our flag Day and God bless
The new born states there are
As now Hawaii has become
Our fiftieth freedom star
Alaska was the first one that
Designed our flag anew
And now it seems quite suddenly
That we have added two
We welcome these new stars and we
Embrace the people there
Whose equal rights we shall protect
By land and sea and air
But let the world be conscious now
That it was by their choice
We did not seize these states or try
To influence their voice
They exercised their own free will
And voluntarily
They asked to be united in
Our true democracy

If you one day of adversity causes you to stumble and sink into depression, then you may know that your spiritual strength, your faith, is limited.
If your outlook remains optimistic and faithful, then your strength is great, and you have properly prepared yourself for your day of adversity.

If a girl speaks to a boy, she's forward
If she doesn't she's bashful
If she talks to a boy, she's a flirt
If she doesn't she's shy
If she's smart in school she's a sissy
If she isn't she's dumb
If she talks about others she's catty
If she doesn't she can't get along with others
If she goes out with many boys, she's a pick up
If she doesn't she's a wall flower
If she's popular, she becomes an item of gossip
If she isn't she's ignored
If she wears a boys ring she stole it
If she doesn't she couldn't get one
If she tints her hair, she's cheap
If she doesn't she's chicken

If she dances with underclassmen she's robbing the cradle
If she doesn't she has no school spirit

For every worry under the sun, there is a remedy or there is none,
If there be one, hurry and find it, if there be none never mind it

LeGrande Richards

To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved

I love you
Not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you
I love you
Not only for what you have made of yourself but for what you are making of me
I love you
For the part of me that you bring out
I love you
For passing over all my foolish and weak traits that you can't help but see
I love you
For drawing out into the light my beauty that no one else had looked quite far enough to find
I love you

Black is the color of my true loves hair
His looks are something wondrous fair
The purest eyes and the firmest hands
I love the ground where on he stands

Although you'll find our house a mess
Come in, sit down, converse
It doesn't always look like this
Some days it's even worse

Teach me dear Lord to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say, to answer their questions kindly
Keep me from interrupting them, made me as courteous to them as I would have them be to me
Give me the courage to confess my short comings to them and ask their forgiveness when I have done wrong
Reduce I pray the meanness in me
May I cease to nag and when I am out of sorts may I hold my tongue
Give me calm, grace, and self control
Blind me to the little errors of my children and help me see the good things that they do
Give me a ready word of praise
Do not let me rob them of the opportunity to wait upon themselves, to think, to choose, to make decisions
Forbid that I should ever punish them for my selfish satisfaction
Make me so fair and just, so considerate and companionable to my children that they will have genuine love for me
Most of all dear Savior
May I be their daily teacher of your love, grace, forgiveness, and soon return

One life and one alone we have to live upon this earth
One life in which to learn so much to seek and find and prove our worth
So many dreams there are to dream so man things to know and do
So many rosy peaks to climb so many pathways to pursue
So waste no time on fruitless guests that get you no where in the end
The good of time is yours to squander or with care to use and spend
It's folly to postpone good deed tomorrow never comes they say
The future times belong to God - Your only chance is now....Today
