God bless our flag Day and God bless
The new born states there are
As now Hawaii has become
Our fiftieth freedom star
Alaska was the first one that
Designed our flag anew
And now it seems quite suddenly
That we have added two
We welcome these new stars and we
Embrace the people there
Whose equal rights we shall protect
By land and sea and air
But let the world be conscious now
That it was by their choice
We did not seize these states or try
To influence their voice
They exercised their own free will
And voluntarily
They asked to be united in
Our true democracy

If you one day of adversity causes you to stumble and sink into depression, then you may know that your spiritual strength, your faith, is limited.
If your outlook remains optimistic and faithful, then your strength is great, and you have properly prepared yourself for your day of adversity.

A Girl can't win
May 14th, 2008If a girl speaks to a boy, she’s forward
If she doesn’t she’s bashful
If she talks to a boy, she’s a flirt
If she doesn’t she’s shy
If she’s smart in school she’s a sissy
If she isn’t she’s dumb
If she talks about others she’s catty
If she doesn’t she can’t get along with others
If she goes out with many boys, she’s a pick up
If she doesn’t she’s a wall flower
If she’s popular, she becomes an item of gossip
If she isn’t she’s ignored
If she wears a boys ring she stole it
If she doesn’t she couldn’t get one
If she tints her hair, she’s cheap
If she doesn’t she’s chicken
If she dances with underclassmen she’s robbing the cradle
If she doesn’t she has no school spirit

For every worry under the sun, there is a remedy or there is none,
If there be one hurry and find it, if there be none never mind it

To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved

I do not ask for sculptured ivory hands
Whose lily whiteness softens to the touch
Thought beauty for itself is much desired
The beauty I desire is not so much of scented lily cups
My hands will know the moist warm feel of loamy furrowed earth
And more the hard round handle of the hoe
But make them soft enough to dry the cheeks
Where little tears are spilled and skilled to mend
Where overalls and heart and lives are torn
And on occasion strengthen them to lend
An ivory firmness when the cause id right
But oh toward the ending of the day
Give them the suppleness to fold and pray
Brown leaves turning
