  • Two greatest conflict are not between two people but between one person and himself.

    Garth Brookes

My outlook has changed
My life rearranged
I'm wild and free
And yet I'm still me.

It's a frustrating thing
Your life on a string
Pulled that way and this
Your whole life you miss.

Till one day you say
I'll do it my way
I'll stand out from the crowd
No longer be cowed.

Then the whole world will see
I'm finally me.

To chase away the fears of night,
On bended knees, we pray for light.
Whispered worries fill the dark
As silently they hit their mark.

A loving Father from above
Hears our prayers and sends his love
With boundless mercy, endless grace
He wipes our tears and lifts our face.

An elder brother sent to die
To take our fears and save our lives.
A selfless sacrifice was he
To loose the chains and set us free.

So as we plead into the night
He encircles us with arms of light.
Our fears and worries fade away
As he takes our hand and guides our way.

Eyes that dance with radiant light,
A smile that melts my heart.
A gentle touch sets skin aflame
As silently I fall apart.

Whispered words float on the air,
A sigh that seems so loud.
Though only hands have ever kissed
My heads forever in a cloud.

I wait for words that never come
Things always stay the same.
A hug, a smile, a fond farewell.
We're players in a different game.

I bear the blood of many nations
The strength of my roots run deep.
My people come from many stations,
The strong and rich. The poor and weak.

I come from Scottish highlands
Where the clans are strong and proud.
I come from Irish, emerald isles
Where the drink flow free and loud.

I hail from English nobleman,
Serfs and peasants too.
I descend from pilgrims, pioneers,
And people of different hue.

I'm the daughter of a medicine man,
The sister of a king.
Mother to a sailor,
Army ranger and marine.

I'm the ancestor of many,
But remembered by a few.
The blood that flows through my veins
Is ancient and yet new.

I'm the maid and I'm the master,
I'm a servant and a saint.
My life's the paint upon the canvas,
My soul the color of the paint.

I've sailed upon the oceans,
I've soared among the clouds.
I've fought for freedom, died for love,
And made my country proud.

I bear the blood of many nations,
My family tree spreads wide.
The faith and courage of those gone past,
Helps fuel my strength inside.

Upon thy grace, Lord I rely.
Be my strength, be my guide.
Bless my eyes that I may see,
Thy hand forever guiding me.

Hear me when I call thy name.
Lead me back when'er I stray.
Wrap thy arm around me tight.
Be my shepherd, be my light.

Wipe my tears with thy soft hand.
Help me to forever stand
Upon the straight and narrow way.
Forever in thy love to stay.

Catch me when I fall, dear Lord.
Fill my soul with thy great word.
Calm my heart with thy kind gaze,
On thy right hand, keep my place.

And if I stumble, Lord I plea,
To feel thy strength uplifting me.
Forever, will I sing thy praise
As thou, my spirit gently raise.

So many things go through my mind, so many things I have to do.
So many questions left unanswered, so many choices to go through.

Should I do or should I go? How can I fit everything in one day?
When so many things go through my mind, how can I find the better way?

I can't get used to growing up. It's scaring me to death.
The list of things yet to be done almost takes away my breath.

Exciting things are coming my way, but some are not so fun.
Some may strengthen and may comfort me. Some I wish were gone and done.

With all of these things going through my mind, it's a wonder I'm still here.
My head feels like it will explode if another thing comes near.

But I'll get things done eventually, there is no other way.
But still I wish some things were done to ease the frustrations of my day.

I hear the forest calling to me. The high mountains call my name.
The wind whispers through the trees, giving me speed as I run.

I hear the river singing my song. It's melodious tune calms my heart.
Creatures in the forest come to drink. Sitting silently I go unheeded.

In the peacefulness of my surroundings, I become one with the beauty around me.
As I climb to the highest peak, or run through the forested glenn. Nothing can harm me, no one can find be.

I want to run, I need to be free. I need to smell the trees and fresh air.
In the shade of the woodland I make my home, where I can run with the wind. Go where ever it takes me.

The birds in the trees and the beasts on the ground, they are my only companions.
They understand and accept me, they do not question, do not judge.

With them I make my home. Where the wind blows through the trees, and the river rages on, I am home.
