  • Two greatest conflict are not between two people but between one person and himself.

    Garth Brookes

In a world torn by pain,

It’s hard to see through the rain.

When darkness falls,

And thunder calls,

You’re the hand that I reach for.

Just when I think that I,

Can’t see this world through different eyes.

You take my hand,

And help me stand,

Against the storms of this life.

I believe this is meant to be.

With you I see this world differently.

And with your love,

I rise above,

Everything in my way.

Just to see that smile,

I would walk a thousand miles.

Your laughter wakes me,

And your touch shakes me.

You’re the one that I live for.

In this world of fears,

You’re the one to dry my tears.

You hold me close,

And heaven knows,

It’s your kiss that makes me soar.

I believe this is meant to be.

With you I see this world differently.

And with your love,

I rise above,

Everything in my way.

Destiny, is what this will be.

Our love will last us through eternity.

And now we’re feeling

Something real, and

Everything is new,

In this world.

A homeless man holds a sign

That says will work for food.

He wasn’t always like this

Back when times were good.

But now he’s sleeping on a park bench and

He’s begging for each scrap of bread,

Ashamed he doesn’t feel,

Like he’s somebody’s baby,

Loved for all his life.

Safe and sound

And homeward bound.

Just happy he’s alive.

And he wishes he could feel that way

And he bows his head and starts to pray,

“Lord, please help someone see, that maybe

I’m somebody’s baby.”

A woman sits with head in hands

Trying to hide the bruise.

She says “He wasn’t always like this,

Back when things were new.

But my husband lost his job last year,

And things haven’t been the same ‘round here.

And lately I don’t feel…”

Like I’m somebody’s baby,

Loved for all my life.

In his arms

And far from harm.

Just thankful we’re alive.

And she wishes she could feel that way.

So she bows her head and starts to pray.

“Lord, help me believe, that maybe,

I’m still someone’s baby.”

From the kids out on the playground

To the soldiers in the field.

We all have times

When in our lives

We no longer feel,

Like we’re somebody’s baby,

Loved for all our lives.

Safe and sound

And homeward bound.

Just trying to survive

In a world that’s full of fear and pain,

We stumble and we lose our way.

Just praying someone sees, that maybe,

We’re still someone’s baby.

Maybe, We’re still someone’s baby.

A lonesome heart, beats a lonesome sound.

Till the other part of their soul is found.

In the morning light, the shades of night, all will disappear.

And you may seem to search forever

For one who hears, you cry and dries your tears.

You cry, Sarangay, my love! I need you desperately.

Hear me scream your name, my love!

I need you to hear me,

Calling out for you to see me here,

Standing all alone.

And I pray you’ll find me before long.

Sarangay.

You cry at night, when no one hears,

To ease the pain of all the years,

Waiting to be loved by someone, like you’ve never dared to dream.

Holding on to hope so long, it may seem,

Your heart will always be…

Screaming, Sarangay, my love! I need you desperately.

Hear me scream your name, my love!

I need you to hear me,

Calling out for you to see me here,

Standing all alone.

And I pray you’ll find me before long.

Sarangay.

It seems you’ve waited for so long, you will never feel,

The love that others have, so strong,

The time they steal.

For you it’s never real.

Sarangay, my love! I need you desperately.

Hear me scream your name, my love!

I need you to hear me,

Calling out for you to see me here,

Standing all alone.

And I pray you’ll find me before long.

Can’t believe all I prayed for was wrong.

Save me from all the loneliness,

Sarangay.

Pray for mercy, pray for strength.

Pray for health, pray for grace.

Pray for those who cannot fight.

Pray for God’s unyielding light.

Pray for joy, pray for love.

Pray for peace form God above.

Pray that chains might loosened be.

Pray He’ll set your spirit free.

Pray for family, pray for faith.

Pray your knees will never shake.

Pray for guidance on your way.

Pray your feet will never stray.

Pray for wisdom, pray for friends

Pray for life that never ends.

Pray for freedom from all foes.

Pray you’re saved from earthly woes.

Pray for knowledge, pray for help.

Pray for courage never felt.

Pray the gospel lights your path,

And gives you all the Father hath.

Grant me life, lend me breath.

Give me power over death.

Thy miracle, my life may be.

I give my soul, you set me free.

Loose my chains, release my fears.

Let Thy love dry all my tears.

Gracious God, I give my life,

And with Thy grace, I conquer strife.

Living my life in darkness, wasting

All of my time on foolish games, and

Never imagined how high the price was for me.

Till I look around me thinking, I won’t let life pass me by.

No more fears, no more tears will I cry!

Now I’m waving so long to all sorrow.

And I won’t let you find me here tomorrow.

Now that I’m finally free, I’ll live for today.

Now I’m living my life, my own way.

Standing my ground, with no more waiting.

Facing my fears to conquer demons.

Shadows of life will never lay a hold of me.

Cause I made my choice to chase my dreams and never look away.

Here I am, you can’t stand in my way.

Now I’m waving so long to all sorrow.

And I won’t let you find me here tomorrow.

Now that I’m finally free, I’ll live for today.

Now I’m living my life, my own way.

Cause I’ve cried my last, forgot my past, and now it’s time to fly.

Roads are long, bring it on, one more time!

Now I’m waving so long to all sorrow.

And I won’t let you find me here tomorrow.

Now that I’m finally free, I’ll live for today.

Now I’m living my life,

Now I’m living my own, good life,

Now I’m living my life, my own way.

For Mom

At the very moment of your birth,

I’m sure the angels in heaven rejoiced.

For such a special child of God

Could only be his choiced.

Through trial and tribulation

You’ve held your head up high.

You soldiered through and stood your ground,

And never failed to try.

You’ve raised five children, each unique,

With patience and with love.

Through life’s trial, you taught us strength

And faith in God above.

With every passing year

You’ve taught us something new.

Love of family, strength of self,

And to reach beyond our view.

You’ve encouraged and you’ve lifted,

You taught us wrong from right.

You’ve led by great example

So we may follow in his light.

Though life has not been easy,

You’ve handled it with grace.

As a mother, you’ve no equal,

As a wife, you lead the race.

You’ve magnified each calling

And done more than what was asked.

You’ve gone above and far beyond

When completing every task.

You taught us each endurance

As, through life, we make our way.

You’re always there with counsel,

And a hug to brighten days.

We’ll lean on you for all our lives,

Your babies, we’ll always be.

We’ll teach our children as you taught us,

A family eternally.

So fear not for your children,

Though we may travel far away.

Home is where our mother is,

And there our hearts will stay.

For my sister Emma on her wedding day - 12/1/2012
The Wedding Dress

Every stitch placed with care,

A sense of gladness in the air.

A mother’s token, love untold.

Life’s new journey now unfolds.

By mother’s hand, the dress is made.

Her time and love she freely gave.

A gift for her son’s bride to be,

Brilliant white, a sight to see.

Time has passed through endless days

The dress is yellowed now with age.

Two generations almost gone,

The dresses time, again has come.

Dusted, altered, cleaned and pressed,

Another dons the wedding dress.

Worn by one when it was new,

Her grandchild now will wear it too.

The scene is different, fresh and bright

Reflecting the brides vibrant light

And yet the story’s still the same

Eternity, again is gained.

Another journey starts today,

Again, the dress is put away.

The story now forever sung

Of the wedding dress, by love begun.

I saw the sun and thought of you.

The wind was your soft touch.

The sweet smell of morning dew

Often seemed too much.

As often as I try, I cannot forget,

The terror of that awful night.

How quickly, silently you went.

And took with you the light.

Wandering through the streets alone, all through my restless night,

Searching for an answer to ease my troubled mind.

When something in me whispered, “Look up and see the glow.”

And as I looked into the heaven’s, a new star on me shown.

Bathed within that heav’nly radiant light,

I turned as I heard a baby cry.

And a melody was whispering all through the silent night.

And a gentle voice was singing underneath that new stars light.

And though I did not understand and could not clearly see,

My mind could not ignore my heart, as it burned inside of me.

I came upon a stable, with shepherds gathered ‘round.

Kneeling, bowed in reverance, awed, where that star shone down.

The crowd before me parted – I saw the mother mild

And my spirit leapt within me as I gazed upon the child.

Mary softly smiles in the night,

I hear Joseph sing a lullaby.

And the melody was whispering all through the silent night,

And his loving eyes were smiling, underneath the new stars light.

The spirit strove within me, as it showed it to me knees.

My mind could not ignore my heart, as it burned inside of me.

And though I stray and stumble and struggle to do right,

The melody’s still ringing, echoing throughout my life.

It’s a melody that whispers all through the silent night,

And a tender voice keeps singing, underneath that new star’s light.

And the voice of God reminds me and brings me to my knees.

My mind shouts praises with my heart as it burns inside of me.

And my mind shouts praises with my heart, as it burns inside of me.
